Wildlife Haven Rehab, Inc. is a non-profit (501c3) organization devoted to the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of Florida wildlife. Founded by Brenda and John Baughman more than eleven years ago, Wildlife Haven has received recognition from animal agencies, veterinarians, county agencies, animal emergency hospitals and many others, who rely on them for assistance with wildlife in need.
As our state's residential and commercial development continues to grow at an astounding rate, we encroach further and further into wild environments, displacing wildlife and causing it to come in closer contact with humans. Without an organization like Wildlife Haven, there is no one to answer the "call of the wild" with assistance for sick or injured animals. Since Wildlife Haven received non-profit status in late 2001, they have relied solely on contributions from the public and do not receive government assistance. Because we are a hospital and recovery facility we can only accept visitors by appointment. Our MissionTo offer emergency rescue services along with compassionate and comprehensive rehabilitative care to abused, orphaned, sick, or injured wildlife and to provide adequate preparation for an easy transition back to the wild. Permanently impaired wildlife is provided a loving home and safe environment so that they may live out their lives in peace and comfort. We endeavor to educate children and our communities to respect, protect, and nurture nature and provide resources for the wildlife enthusiast. Community assistance for displaced and "nuisance" wildlife by way of gentle relocation is offered as a pain-free alternative to destructive and unethical practices and wildlife eradication. PhilosophyRemember, Florida is their home too! At Wildlife Haven, we believe it is each of our responsibility to preserve all species inherent to Florida so that future generations may enjoy it. We believe there are aesthetic, cultural, ethical and spiritual reasons for preservation and we endeavor to increase awareness, education, and empathy to wild creatures and to lessen the impact of the many perils they face. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
